Plagiarism Policy

The Archives of Basic and Applied Medicine (ABAM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. The journal expects all submitted manuscripts to represent original work that has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to ABAM are routinely screened for plagiarism before entering the peer-review process. The Editorial Office uses plagiarism detection software together with editorial assessment to identify similarities with previously published literature.

The similarity report is evaluated carefully, and editorial decisions are based on both the percentage of similarity and the nature of the matched content. Legitimate similarities arising from references, standard methodological descriptions, or properly quoted material are assessed separately from unacceptable overlap.

Unacceptable Practices

The journal considers the following practices to be unacceptable:

  • Copying text, data, figures, or tables from other sources without proper citation or permission.
  • Presenting another person's ideas, results, or intellectual work as one's own.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Self-plagiarism through substantial reuse of previously published material without appropriate citation or justification.
  • Image manipulation or data duplication intended to misrepresent research findings.

Editorial Action

If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, the Editorial Office may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Request clarification or revision from the authors.
  • Reject the manuscript before peer review or publication.
  • Withdraw the manuscript from the editorial process.
  • Publish a correction or retraction for published articles where appropriate.
  • Notify the authors' institution, funding agency, or other relevant organizations in cases of serious ethical misconduct.

Editorial actions are taken in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that every submission is original, properly referenced, and free from plagiarism. All borrowed text, figures, tables, or other copyrighted materials must be appropriately cited, and permission must be obtained when required.

By submitting a manuscript to ABAM, the corresponding author confirms that the work is original and that all authors accept responsibility for its scientific accuracy, authenticity, and ethical integrity.
