Editorial Policies

The Archives of Basic and Applied Medicine (ABAM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial excellence, scientific integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. The journal follows internationally recognized best practices to ensure a fair, rigorous, and unbiased editorial process for all submitted manuscripts.

1. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board without influence from the publisher, sponsors, advertisers, institutions, or any external organizations. Decisions are based solely on the scientific quality, originality, ethical compliance, and relevance of the submitted work.

2. Editorial Decision-Making Process

Each submitted manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine its suitability for the journal's scope and compliance with submission requirements. Manuscripts meeting the journal's standards are sent for peer review. The final publication decision is based on reviewers' recommendations, editorial evaluation, and the scientific merit of the manuscript.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

3. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring an objective and unbiased evaluation of manuscripts.
  • Selecting qualified and independent peer reviewers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the editorial process.
  • Managing conflicts of interest appropriately.
  • Upholding publication ethics and research integrity.
  • Taking appropriate action when ethical concerns arise.

4. Editorial Board Responsibilities

Members of the Editorial Board are expected to:

  • Support the journal's editorial standards.
  • Provide expert advice on editorial matters.
  • Participate in peer review when requested.
  • Promote ethical publishing practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest.

5. Confidentiality

Editors, reviewers, editorial staff, and publishers treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information regarding submitted manuscripts will not be disclosed to anyone except those directly involved in the editorial and peer-review process.

6. Conflict of Interest

Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have financial, institutional, professional, or personal conflicts of interest. When necessary, another qualified editor will oversee the editorial process to ensure impartiality.

7. Research Integrity

The journal promotes responsible research conduct and expects all submissions to represent honest, accurate, and original research. Fabrication, falsification, image manipulation, inappropriate data presentation, duplicate publication, and other forms of research misconduct are not tolerated.

8. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Artificial intelligence tools may be used only to assist authors in improving language or formatting. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and authenticity of all submitted work. AI tools cannot be listed as authors and their use should be disclosed when appropriate.

9. Data Transparency

Authors are encouraged to maintain accurate research records and make supporting data available whenever possible to promote transparency, reproducibility, and verification of published findings, subject to ethical and legal considerations.

10. Clinical Research

Research involving human participants, animals, or identifiable personal data must comply with internationally accepted ethical standards and obtain approval from the appropriate ethics committee before the study is conducted.

11. Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a detailed scientific justification. Appeals will be reviewed independently, and the Editor-in-Chief's final decision will be communicated after careful evaluation.

12. Complaints

Complaints relating to editorial procedures, peer review, publication ethics, or journal management will be investigated fairly, confidentially, and promptly. Appropriate corrective actions will be taken whenever necessary.

13. Corrections and Editorial Updates

If significant errors are identified after publication, the journal may publish corrections, corrigenda, editorial notes, or other appropriate notices to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

14. Continuous Improvement

The journal regularly reviews and updates its editorial policies to reflect evolving international publishing standards, technological developments, and best practices in scholarly communication.
